Goodbye Dhara!

As the spring term is coming to an end, we say goodbye to our colleague Dhara Mungra.
For the past six months, Dhara was part of our team at the University of Mannheim, where she taught a course on AI Product Development. The goal of the course was to help students learn by building real products with external stakeholders so that their work addressed real-world problems instead of remaining classroom prototypes. The students worked with researchers, newsrooms, and civil society organizations to develop solutions for real use cases.
Dhara is moving back to India to return to her role as co-founder and CTO at SimPPL, where she continues to build social intelligence tools for journalists, researchers, and civil society organizations to better understand how narratives spread across social media and how public opinion is shaped by what people see in their feeds. Her focus will be on further developing Arbiter, building new partnerships, and expanding their work to better understand not only how public opinion evolves after major events, but also how it is shaped every day through the information people encounter on social media.
We wish you all the best, Dhara, and are looking forward to staying in touch!
