New team member Bernd Beber

We are excited to welcome Bernd Beber, Ph.D. as an interim professor at the Chair. Bernd is also a visiting researcher at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and the RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research and brings with him extensive experience from previous roles at New York University, Humboldt University of Berlin, and the University of Oxford.

His research focuses on violent conflict, migration, and development, with a particular emphasis on sub-Saharan Africa, causal inference, and survey data. Bernd has led field research projects across several African countries and has published in leading journals including International Organization, the Journal of Politics, and the Journal of Development Economics.
