Study by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Stier

The current study by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Stier focuses on online political news consumption in six democracies.

A recent study by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Stier in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences (GESIS) shows that online political news consumption is less frequent and more ideological than the consumption of non-political content. In the USA in particular, conservative users often choose strongly right-wing sources such as Fox News. The study is based on web browsing and survey data from over 7,000 participants in six democracies and shows similar patterns for Italy and Spain as for the USA.
