Mandatory Internship in the Bachelor’s Programs in Political Science and Sociology

Internships are part of the curriculum in both the bachelor’s program in Political Science and the bachelor's program in Sociology at the School of Social Sciences. They enable students to gain professional experience at an early stage of their career and establish valuable corporate connections.

The Internship Office will help you find a suitable internship position and assist you in applying and preparing for it.

6 weeks/210 working hours

12 weeks for students enrolled since fall semester 2019

Completion of the internship in a field of social sciences

Attend the course Political Science/Sociology & Career Development II

Ideally during the semester break

10 ECTS credits 
  1. Write an internship report
  2. Fill in the Request for Recognition of Internship form
  3. Because of the current suspension of the lecture period please send the request form (two copies) and the report (one copy) together with proof of the internship (e.g. a copy of the internship certificate) as well as a declaration of authorship to:

    or put in the letter box of the B–building next to the Café Soleil of the building complex.
  4. Send the internship documents as one merged PDF file via email either at internship(at)sowi.uni-mannheim.de or praktikum(at)sowi.uni-mannheim.de (file name: year_internship_documents_major_name_forename; e.g. 2020_Internship_documents_BAPowi_Smith_John or 2020_internship_documents_BASozi_Doe_Jane)
