Research Internship in the Master’s Programs in Political Science and Sociology

Internships are part of the curriculum in both the master’s program in Political Science and the master's program in Sociology at the School of Social Sciences. The Internship Office will help you find a suitable internship position and assist you in applying and preparing for it.

It is possible to combine a research internship with the participation in a summer school

Usually after the second semester

8 ECTS credits

You need to write a report

210 hours  
  1. Write an internship report
  2. Fill in the Request for Recognition of Internship form
  3. Because of the current suspension of the lecture period please send the request form (two copies) and the report (one copy) together with proof of the internship (e.g. a copy of the internship certificate) as well as a declaration of authorship to:

    Building A - Room A 414
    68159 Mannheim
    or put in the letter box of the B–building next to the Café Soleil of the building complex.
  4. Send the internship documents as one merged PDF file via email either at internship(at)sowi.uni-mannheim.de or praktikum(at)sowi.uni-mannheim.de (file name: year_internship_documents_major_name_forename; e.g. 2020_internship_documents_MAPol_Smith_John or 2020_internship_documents_MASoc_Doe_Jane)
