Global Innovation Challenge 2025

Two Weeks of Innovation, Collaboration, and Global Exchange

From June 29 to July 11, more than 30 MSc and MBA students from leading business schools across Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia came together in Mannheim for this year’s Global Innovation Challenge (GIC). Hosted for the third time by Mannheim Business School, the program brought together academic excellence and real-world problem-solving in an intensive, project-based format.

Led by academic head Prof. Dr. Marc Lerchenmüller and coordinators Yvonne Hall and Janna Ried, this year’s cohort explored the Tech Venture Lifecycle — from seed to growth — working closely with pioneering startups in sectors such as Biotech, Agritech, SaaS, and Renewable Energy. Students tackled real-world innovation challenges and co-created solutions at the intersection of entrepreneurship, technology, and sustainability.

Beyond the academic program, participants enjoyed cultural and social experiences, including visits to a local winery and the historic city of Heidelberg, further strengthening the intercultural ties that define the GIC experience.

GIC 2025 provided participants with valuable insights, practical experience, and an international perspective on innovation and entrepreneurship. Alongside the academic and professional insights gained, participants formed friendships and shared experiences that will stay with them for years to come. We look forward to welcoming future cohorts as the Global Innovation Challenge continues to evolve.
