Introductory workshop on Generative AI (GenAI) and chatbots
We are pleased to invite you to an introductory workshop on Generative AI (GenAI) and
various Chatbots, designed specifically for researchers and faculty at the School of Social Sciences and the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES).
This workshop is designed for absolute beginners—anyone with little to no prior knowledge of Generative AI and Chatbots but who wants an introduction tailored to their needs. Whether you’re a researcher or faculty member, this session will provide practical insights into how AI can support your work.

Workshop Overview
This introductory workshop will provide a beginner-friendly introduction to GenAI and its applications in research and teaching, covering:
- A brief introduction to Generative AI and effective prompting
- Overview of AI applications in research and teaching
- Hands-on use cases, such as
- Literature search with AI
- A social science application using GenAI
- AI-assisted transcription of audio conversations
- AI-supported writing and text generation
The workshop is jointly organized by the MZES, the Teaching and Learning Center (ZLL), and the University Library.
No prior experience with AI is needed—just curiosity and an interest in exploring its potential!
The workshop will also be live streamed via Zoom.
