Prof. Dustin Tingley visits the Chair – Talk at the Schloss

Prof. Tingley will give a second talk at the Schloss on Thursday, October 30 at 17:15 in lecture hall EO150 on the topic of "Climate Policy and Energy Transition Tradeoffs: Local Economies and Global Contexts".

All interested persons are welcome.

Abstract:

What are the political, social, and economic ingredients of a green energy transition? And how do they play out domestically and internationally? This talk explores the myriad tradeoffs of moving too fast or too slow in an energy transition. We will span transitions of local fossil fuel producing communities to geopolitical negotiations around climate policies such as the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and industrial policy investments by China. Perspectives from business, politics, and broader society all highlight challenging tradeoffs of any approach or policy.
