    Dr. Alina Greiner joined the Chair of Political Science, International Relations as postdoctoral researcher in February 2023. Prior to that she was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Konstanz in the Development Research Group led by Prof. Anke Hoeffler. Alina defended her doctoral thesis “Social Legacies of Civil War: Gendered Consequences of Conflict” in May 2022.

    Alina holds an undergraduate degree (B.A.) from the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg in Socioeconomics, and a graduate degree (M.A.) from the University of Konstanz in Politics and Public Administration. She has also studied at the University College Cork as well as the University of Essex and was a Visiting Researcher at Yale University.

    In her research, Alina investigates micro-level dynamics and consequences of civil war. In particular, her research focuses on gendered dimensions of armed conflict, unobtrusive measurement of violence, and women's empowerment. Alina is teaching a BA-seminar on the causes and consequences of armed conflict and a BA-thesis colloquium this spring semester.
