Profile
Christian Schnaudt studied Political Science and Communication Studies at the University of Mannheim. Subsequently, he worked as a research associate and lecturer at the Chair of Political Science and International Comparative Social Research at the Department of Politics at the University of Mannheim (2009–2015), where he also obtained his PhD. His doctoral dissertation entitled “Political Confidence and Democracy in Europe: Antecedents and Consequences of Citizens' Confidence in Representative and Regulative Institutions and Authorities” was published by Springer International. From 2014–2017, he has been working as a research associate in the German team of the European Social Survey (ESS) at the University of Bielefeld and the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES). From 2017–2020, he acted as the project manager of the European Social Survey and was involved with the planning, coordination and implementation of the German study of the ESS at GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. Since June 2020, Christian Schnaudt is a research associate at the Chair of Political Science, Political Sociology. From 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023, Dr. Schnaudt acted as interim professor for Empirical-Analytical Participaton Research at the Institute of Political Science, University of Heidelberg, Germany.
His research interests and expertise are located in the areas of political behavior (especially political trust and participation), comparative politics, and survey methodology.
