I chose the University of Mannheim because it offers an excellent Psychology program in English. It also has a gorgeous campus and provides the unique opportunity to attend courses in a palace. The two best experiences I’ve had so far were my first evening in Mannheim on the one hand – I went out for drinks with a couple of friends and tried German beer for the first time – and a trip to the Black Forest on the other. Meeting new people was a lot easier than I had expected. My roommates and I became friends in no time and I got to know many other students through VISUM, a student organization.

Studying at the University of Mannheim encouraged me to develop a sense of autonomy and go beyond the initial perception of my capabilities. Student exchange in the primary sense comprises a general concept of acquiring education abroad, while the secondary and in-depth view reveals the importance of student exchange at the level of human personality growth and competence acquisition, enabling us to overcome fears and reach higher goals. Being in contact with people from different parts of the world enhanced the meaning of coexistence and showed me that you are never really alone, no matter where you are.

I decided to come to the University of Mannheim because I wanted to learn more about German culture. It was definitely the right choice. One of the things I enjoyed most was playing volleyball with other Mannheim students. Being able to combine meeting new people with my passion for sports and communicating in another language was an amazing experience.
