Lilli Banholzer holds a Ph.D. in International Politics from the University of Konstanz, Germany. Prior to joining the University of Mannheim as Professor for Political Science and Conflict Research in 2014, she was a Research Fellow at the German Development Institute (DIE-GDI), a think-tank advising the German government on development cooperation matters. She is specialized in conducting multidisciplinary and quantitative research projects at the cross-roads of international relations, psychology, peace and conflict studies and economic development. Her research focuses on the causes of political violence and conflict, the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of combatants, non-state actors, inclusive economic development, causes and consequences of migration and flight and methods and measurements for evaluating the effectiveness of development programs. Lilli Banholzer übernahm im August 2014 die Professur für Politikwissenschaft, Konfliktforschung. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen auf den Ursachen politischer Konflikte, Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Programme, nicht-staatliche Akteure sowie Inklusives wirtschaftliches Wachstum.
