Julia Semmelbeck joined the team in 2013 as a research assistant. She is a PhD Candidate at the Doctoral Center in Social and Behavioral Science (CDSS) at the University of Mannheim. She holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Mannheim and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Law and Russian from the University of Regensburg. Before joining the team she worked as a research assistant at the University of Stuttgart. In the summer of 2014 she joined the U.S. National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) as a research fellow. Her research interests include terrorism and counterterrorism as well as network analysis. Specifically, her work focuses on the logistical supply chain networks of terrorist campaigns and how those networks can inform counterterrorism strategies.
