Anna-Lena Hönig is a PhD Student at the Doctoral Center in Social and Behavioral Science (CDSS) at the University of Mannheim.  She is a member of the Research School on Peace and Conflict at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). Anna-Lena holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Mannheim. She studied at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore (2010-2011), The School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Washington, D.C. (Fall 2010), and Marmara University, Istanbul (Spring 2009) where she developed a special interest in Central Asia.

Anna-Lena taught at the International Information Technologies University, Almaty (2012-2013), the University of International Business, Almaty (2012-2013) and the University of Mannheim (2013-2015). In 2015 she received the Baden-Wuerttemberg-Certificate in Higher Education Didactics and participated at the ECPR Winter School in Methods and Techniques. Her research interests include violent and nonviolent forms of protest, social networks and cooperation in contentious politics, terrorism, and social network analysis.
